It is reported that MDHC Container Services, a subsidiary of Peel Ports, the UK’s second largest port group, has voted in favor of strike action after offering a 7% pay rise to more than 500 dock workers.

The UAW released the results of the strike vote, with figures showing that 88 percent of its members voted, with 99 percent of them supporting the strike.

The UAW pointed out that the proposed 7% pay rise is actually a pay cut (a pay cut), an offer that is insufficient and far below the current real inflation rate, which the Bank of England estimates could reach 13% in real terms this year. Print Paper Cup Fan

The union has not yet set a date for the Port of Liverpool strike, but reports that a second strike vote is beginning. The ballot began for 60 maintenance engineers, also employed by MDHC, who may also strike over the same pay offer, and closes on August 24.

The Port of Liverpool is known to handle about 75,000 TEUs from more than 60 vessels per month. The union warned that any workers’ strike would have a serious impact on shipping and road transport in Liverpool and the surrounding area. Paper Cup Fan Print

In the face of strong inflation, the UAW and other unions across the U.K. have been active in the fight for higher pay rises.

Those involved predict that the latest wave of strikes in the UK could put further pressure on the supply chain, disrupting shipping in major European ports. There will be a huge shockwave throughout the UK supply chain. Paper Cup Fan Rolls
